Springfield Guesthouse is conveniently located on the western
coast of Dominica – about a 20-minute drive from the capital city of Roseau. Most
attractions are easily accessible from Springfield by car, as the island’s main
road junction (Pond Casse) is only a ten-minute drive away.
Dominica has two airports – Canefield (DCF), which is located
about 15-minutes from Springfield, and Melville Hall (DOM), which is about an
hour away. Caribbean Star, Caribbean Sun, Liat and American Eagle Airlines all
service Dominica, usually connecting from Puerto Rico, Antigua or Barbados.
Transportation from either airport, or assistance renting a
car, can be arranged for individuals and groups. All visitors new to Dominica
are, however, strongly urged to take a taxi from the airport, as driving
conditions can be difficult to get used to.
If you wish to drive during your stay, your rental-vehicle
can be dropped off at Springfield Guesthouse. A temporary driver’s license must
be purchased for approximately $12 US and please note that like in Great Britain,
Dominicans drive on the left-hand side of the road!
