The Archbold Tropical Research and Education Center (ATREC)
was installed in July 2005 as the operations management body at Springfield Guesthouse
in the Commonwealth of Dominica.
 |
What we do:
- Operate Springfield Guesthouse as a welcoming home
to both scientists and travelers alike.
- Act as a liaison for scientists interested in research
at Springfield and other areas of Dominica.
- Develop educational programming and partnerships with
local communities
|
 |
Our Mission:
- To enhance the quality of the natural resources and
habitats at Springfield and to secure the land as a life-long teacher
of community and environmental stewardship.
- While celebrating the architectural, agricultural
and environmental heritage of Dominica, ATREC seeks to intervene on
the land in creative ways that ensure a sustainable future.
- To maintain an active role in the Dominican community
as a unique resource of inspired learning for each citizen.
- To share the human and natural resources of Springfield
so that Dominican communities may enjoy nature’s prosperity and beauty
for generations to come.
